I have just finished reading the galley of Wally Lamb’s We Are Water coming out this October. I loved it! I love his graceful and complex writing, revealing layers and histories of everything from relationships to child abuse, from immigrants to edgy modern art, all with a careful and compassionate eye to the patterns we human beings can fall into. I love that he lets in the possibility for redemption in the most harrowing and difficult circumstances. His characters are fascinating. The story is told in alternating chapters by a cast of characters mostly related to one another, but not always. It spans many decades and comes to a gorgeous and satisfying conclusion.
